Mr. Zamorano, tell us about a project of a colleague of yours that has impressed you the most?

The project that has impressed me and is one of my favorite projects is not really a building, but the High Line Park in New York. I like the way it interacts with the infrastructure, with the history of the city, with the landscape, and how it connects people to a new space.

What will be the material of the future according to you?

I believe that the material of the future is related to nature and completely biological - it will come from nature and will certainly return back to nature.

How do you balance the functionality of a project with the aesthetics and the desire for bold design?

I believe the three areas - functionality, aesthetics, and challenging design - are completely interconnected. In my opinion, a functional building, with its architecture, gives different expressions and interesting design options. If a building is successful, if it can integrate people and communicate with the context of the environment, respond to the surrounding landscape, then it is functional, aesthetically successful, and good in design.

What inspires you when you start working?

The inspiration - it does not come from the same place. It is related to the context in which the project will be implemented and in which we must fit it in. My inspiration may be related to the culture, it may be related to some specifics of the place I am designing, and it may even be related to the difficulties that this place creates.

What is your favorite movie?

My favorite film is "The City of the Lost Children" (in French: La Cité des enfants perdus) from 1995. It is a very poetic and dramatic French film. A dystopia that shows the future of technology and society.
