ETEM will once again gather world-renowned names in architecture at the International Facade Engineering Conference on November 16 this year. Every two years, the event becomes a professional platform, presenting the latest innovations and trends in facade engineering, the latest ideas, and concepts in the field of architecture and sustainable urban development, as well as the latest construction technologies.

The upcoming fifth edition will be supported by the American Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), to which ETEM is a member. The main topic of the conference will be the design, construction, and operation of high-rise buildings in an urban environment, as well as the latest trends and solutions in the facade engineering of skyscrapers. Among the highlights of the forum will be digitalization in architecture, automation of different processes and the latest technological solutions for solar protection.

The Fifth International Conference promises a dynamic program with inspiring presentations by leading architecture and facade engineering professionals. This year, world-renowned experts from different industries will be re-introduced, giving a fresh perspective on the latest trends and innovations in design.

Among the confirmed presenters is the name of MironMutyaba, chief designer at Zaha Hadid Architects. He will present innovative architectural designs and the use of new computational techniques in the design and rationalization of complex facades. Myron Mutyaba is involved in major projects such as the Signature Towers skyscrapers rising in the Gulf of Dubai and the iconic Jockey Club Innovation Tower, which has become a new driving force in Hong Kong's development as a hub for development and design in Asia. MironMutyaba is part of the team that designed the 5-star Morpheus Hotel in Macau. Morpheus is the world's first high-rise supported by a free-form steel exoskeleton, covering more than 12,000 square meters of the facade. He is responsible for the calculation of the components of the Morpheus Hotel facade, including the complete design and rationalization of the aluminum shell.

Steven Kennedy, who is an associate partner at Grimshaw Architecture Bureau, will present various innovative design techniques and solutions for building architectural designs in harmony with their surroundings. Currently, Kennedy is working on a dynamic international portfolio of projects aimed at protecting and promoting environmental, natural and cultural heritage. One such project is the Oman Botanic Garden, which is currently under construction at the foot of the Al Hajar mountains. The garden will combine the cultivation, exploration, and conservation of Oman's rich local flora through a variety of plant protection, environmental education and gardening activities. Steven Kennedy is also the director of Scale Rule – a team of architects and engineers who promotes cultural diversity and drives public engagement in building a sustainable urban environment.

Pablo Zamorano, head of the Geometry & Computational Design Department at Heatherwick Studio, who has extensive experience in applying new technologies and techniques, as well as performing challenging geometries, has also confirmed his participation in the conference. Pablo Zamorano is the Coal Drops Yard Deputy Project Manager, an iconic retail and public space project in King's Cross, London. In 2014, the studio was tasked with rethinking the neighborhood and the challenge of turning outdated buildings and long corner sites into a lively retail and meeting space. Pablo Zamorano engaged in the development of the geometry of the project, as well as in the coordination of the production of all complex components.

Also part of the conference program will be GeorgiPetrov, who is an associate director, a structural engineer at SOM (Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP). He is experienced in a variety of challenging typologies and projects, including corporate and commercial offices, cultural and transportation buildings, as well as special glass and steel structures. Georgi Petrov works on the structural design of the National Museum of the United States Army (Fort Belvoir, Virginia) – a complex site consisting of a museum, a maintenance center, a parking lot, exhibition halls, ceremonial and meeting spaces, located on 85 acres of land.

Daniel Bosia – the Design Director in the London office of the giant Thornton Tomasetti will also be present at the Forum with a presentation. The Thornton Tomasetti team is currently working on the structural design of the Jeddah Tower, which in 2020 will become the tallest building in the world and the first structure to reach 1 kilometer in height.

ETEM promises a dynamic program and innovative ideas to inspire attendees.

You can stay up-to-date on the event and the presenters who will attend it on the site of the Forum – facadeconference.com.
